Thomas “Bimbo” Joseph Taflinger, 62, died at 1:30 a.m. Dec. 30, 2010, at his residence.
He was born June 3, 1948, in Lima, to William J. and Rosemary Promen Taflinger, who preceded him in death. On May 5, 1967, he married Judith A. Barker, who survives.
Mr. Taflinger was a retired engineer at B&O Railroad. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2661 of Lima, and the Lima Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. He enjoyed playing pool, cooking and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.
Survivors also include three sons, Thomas John (Joyce) Taflinger, Richard Joseph (Kim Sanchez) Taflinger and Joseph Michael (Monica) Taflinger, all of Lima; a daughter, Kimberly A. Taflinger, of Lima; two brothers, William (Becky) Taflinger and Michael (Karen) Taflinger, both of Lima; two sisters, Liesl Taflinger, of Wapakoneta, and Theresa (Kenneth) Barker, of Lima; sister-in-law, Nancy Taflinger, of Lima; and granddaughter, Emma Rose Taflinger.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Taflinger; a sister, Melinda Taflinger; and two nephews, John W. Barker and Geoff Taflinger.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Interment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, where a wake service will begin at 8 p.m.
