Obituaries

Barbara Kay Perry, age 83 of Lima, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 11:37 a.m. at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center.

She was born November 12, 1939, in Lima to Emerson and Victoria (Lora) Seitz who preceded her in death. On November 26, 1967, she married Rex Jay Perry who preceded her in death on May 1, 1999.

Surviving are their children: Elizabeth (David Gittleman) Perry Ardell of Atlanta, GA and Scot (Tara) Perry of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren: Colin Perry, Megan Perry, Aidan Ardell, Perry Ardell, Maxwell Perry, Isabella Ardell; and her sister, Gretchen Detrick of Lima.

Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Lima Senior High School and a 1961 graduate of Otterbein College with a Bachelor's Degree. She had been a medical technician at Miami Valley Hospital prior to becoming a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Shawnee Country Club, the Child Conservation League and the Bonita Bay Club. She had been an avid golfer, tennis player and bridge player. Barbara enjoyed Broadway musicals and annual trips with her cousins. She was also a longtime member of West Elm United Church of Christ and a generous philanthropist in Lima. Her greatest talent may have been creating beautiful clothes, blankets and Christmas stockings with her knitting needles. Most of all, Barbara dearly loved taking family vacations with her grandchildren.

Her visitation will be Saturday, November 18th, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm followed by a brief service at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. A private family inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date.
