Obituary For Betty L. Numbers

Lima, OH
Betty L. Numbers, age 94, passed away on June 11, 2024, at 1:26 pm, at The Springs of Lima. Betty was born January 14, 1930, in Lima, OH, to the late Raymond R. Sheets and Marie R. (Tschanz) Sheets-Brown. On April 28, 1954, she married Albert "Bones" M. Numbers who preceded her in death on February 16, 1996.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Deveria M. (Brad Tomlinson) Dake of Lima, OH, 3 grandchildren: Thomas (Becky) Dake, Crystal Marshal and Garrick (Aimee) Dake, 2 great grandchildren: Alton McPheron and Kayla (TJ Ball) Marshal, a great great grandson, Thomas Ball and a sister in-law, Joyce Brown of Yuma, AZ. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: LeRoy Sheets, Donald Brown and Edward Brown.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Vaughnsville High School. After high school she began working at Phillip Kohn Co. as a bookkeeper. That company evolved into what is known today as the Trophy and Engraving Center. She started working there in 1950 and became the owner in 1970, which she retained until 1990. The company still operates as a family business to this day, which her daughter now operates. Betty was fortunate enough to keep working until she retired in 1990, but that didn't mean that she didn't give her motherly advice as to how her daughter should run the business. Betty was a member of the Chamber since 1969. She liked to sing, work jig-saw puzzles and would always feed the neighborhood stray cats. She was also a fan of John Grisham books.
There will be a private Celebration of Life and entombment of cremated remains held at a later in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 5-8 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family at

I remember Betty from thr Trophy Store when they were downtown. My mom worked at Beltone, so I grew up around her and Bones. We lived in their upstairs apartment in 1990 while our house was being built. Betty was a sweet woman who was always nice, friendly, and caring. Prayers for her family during this time. May God bless you.
