Obituaries

Eileen Flynn, age 92, of Lima, OH passed away peacefully at the
Ganzhorn Suites in Powell, OH on October 25, 2023, surrounded by
members of her family. She was born on September 5, 1931 to the late
Ellsworth Jewell and Veronica Tenwalde/Jewell. Orphaned at a young
age, Eileen had a challenging early life but remained focused on her
education and work ethic; two things that would be of benefit to her as
she grew older. Eileen was preceded in death by her soulmate and
loving husband, Richard A Flynn. They married at a young age and had
4 children. Family was important to Eileen and Richard. Eileen is
survived by her children, Michael (Barbara) Flynn, Thomas (Andi
Matheny) Flynn, Patricia (Joseph Daprile) Flynn and Janice (Scott)
Horne; grandchildren Kelly (Mark) Monahan, Molly (Brian) Goad, Kevin
(Randi) Flynn, Patrick (Carann) Flynn, Danny Hall, Maggie (Corey)
Wissinger, Jamie (Annie) Horne and Mari (AJ) Lohmueller. She also has
10 great grandchildren.
Eileen and her husband Richard worked hard to provide a good life for
their children. Eileen was a stay-at-home mom until her children were
grown. She was known for her excellent cooking including Chicken &
Noodles and chocolate chip cookies. Later in life, Eileen earned her
license as a real estate agent and earned membership in the Million
Dollar Club. She was very successful at selling homes and her earnings
helped to send some of her children to college. Subsequently, she
worked as a bookkeeper for R.A. Flynn & Son, working hand-in-hand
with her husband to grow the family-owned business. After the death
of her husband, Eileen worked with her son, Mike to continue the
success of the business.
Eileen had a love for life and enjoyed meeting new people. She was
noted as a serious Bridge player and a competitive-sneaky Euchre
player. You had to be on your toes when playing Euchre with Eileen. If
not, she would recommend that you attend “Euchre School”. Eileen
could certainly make you laugh.
Both visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gerard
Catholic Church, Lima, OH. The family will be receiving visitation on
Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Mass will be
held immediately after. The family would like to thank the loving
personnel at Ganzhorn Suites in Powell, OH and Cap City Hospice for
their loving and compassionate care of Eileen. They would also like to
thank the staff at Primrose of Lima. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
