Gary A. Cotterman, age 76, passed away on September 17, 2023, at 10:37 am, at his residence surrounded by his family. Gary was born January 25, 1947, in Lima, OH, to Gaylord L. and Waneta J. (Jennings) Cotterman who preceded him in death. On August 23, 1969, he married Anne (Adams) Cotterman who survives in Cridersville.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his children: Brad (Annette) Cotterman of Lima, OH, Shawna (Larry) Groves of Saint Marys, OH and Bryan (Melissa) Cotterman of Lima, OH, 8 grandchildren: Brianna (Andy) Kill, Josie (Alex Nichelson) Cotterman, Zane Oglesbee, Ryder Groves, Eli (Kennedy) Brown, Hope Brown, Preston Brown and Kyle Cotterman, a great granddaughter, Sasha Kill, a sister, Vicki Stant of Lima, OH and a sister in-law, Katie Cotterman of Spencerville, OH. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gaylord Cotterman and a sister, Joanna (Darrell) Smith.
Gary was a graduate of Lima Senior High School. He then joined the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War. He had worked in the paint shop with Clark Equipment until they closed their doors and then he transferred to Buckeye Rubber where he worked in the banbury department retiring in 1990. Gary had attended the Rousculp Church of Christ and was a member of the Allen County Archers. He was also an avid record collector.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL followed by military rites provided by the U.S. Army and the VFW #1275. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kenny Rader. Entombment of cremated remains will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date.
Friends may visit on Monday from 12 noon until the time of the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to Rousculp Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
