Obituary For Gary D. Bricker

Bluffton

Gary D. Bricker, 85, passed away December 24, 2023 at Lima Memorial Health System. Gary was born January 22, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Russell and Ruby Fern (Dorman) Bricker. On October 14, 1960 he married Violet Bradley Bricker.

Gary was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School and served in the Ohio National Guard. He had worked in the dyno division at the Lima Ford Engine Plant for 41½ years. Gary attended the Upper Room Church of God in Findlay and was a long time active member at the Lima First Assembly of God. He was also a member of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Car Club and the Columbus Grove Fender Benders. Gary thoroughly enjoyed and was very passionate about restoring antique Ford cars. He was the best storyteller and volunteered a lot of his time painting fire hydrants in the Village of Bluffton.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Bricker of Bluffton, two daughters, Gwyn (Michael) Mauk of Springfield, Missouri, Amy (Michael) Houser of Zeeland, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Mauk, Benjamin (Amanda) Mauk, Eden (Hector) Cruz, Caleb (Brenna) Houser, Maty (Danielle) Mauk, Jacob Houser, Chloe (Evan) Potter; seven great-grandchildren and two on the way; a sister, Jone Little of Lima and a sister-in-law, Pam Bricker of Bluffton

Gary was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Bricker, Jay Bricker and a sister, Gail Dunbar.

Gary's services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2023 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastors Michael Houser, Ken McBeth and Terry McBeth officiating. Burial will be in Cairo East Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    So sorry for the loss of Gary. He was a nice, funny, and thoughtful gentleman. To all of his family I send thoughts, prayers, and hugs. I really liked Gary even though he was a Ford man.

    My dad, the greatest dad in the whole world! The finest man, I know! The kindest, most generous, godly, hard-working, loving, funny, the best storyteller of all times!
