Obituary For Gene M. "Mike" Lane
Gene M. "Mike" Lane, 75, of Lima passed away at 4:36 AM on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born on April 24, 1948 in Bellefontaine, OH to George and Lois (Wallace) Lane, who both preceded him in death. On July 8, 1970, he married Ruth Beair, who survives in Lima.
Mike proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He was a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the Wapak Eagles Lodge. He had worked at Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant for 31 years and retired in 2004.
He enjoyed shooting pool and listening to music especially Elvis, but also listened to 50's and 60's as well as country music. He was a very affectionate and complimentary person who was very generous and never knew a stranger. Mike was a very sharp dresser and loved to eat out, especially at Texas Roadhouse. He loved having pictures displayed at home of family and friends. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years Ruth Lane of Lima; his children Babe "Mike" (Stephanie) Lane of Lima, James (Rhea) Lane of New York and Sheila (Ramiro) Cortez of Lima; his grandchildren Emily, Brandon Lane, RJ, Celia and Tierra Cortez, Caleb (Hayleah), Jesse, Jackson, Presley and Gracilyn Lane, Kassi Bergdall and Gerald Lamb; his great-grandchildren Braxton and Zaylin; his brother Terry (Brenda) Lane of Ashland, OH.
He was preceded in death by his son Fabian Lane; his daughters Tina Lamb and Emily Lane; his grandson Tyler Lane; his brother Ronnie Lane.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 6, 2023 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Interment in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, will immediately follow.
