Obituary For Gerald E. Langmeyer

Gerald “Jerry” E. Langmeyer, age 75, of Lima, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 8:39 pm after a battle with cancer. His wife was by his side. He was born January 9, 1949, in Lima, to the late Eugene and Rita Warnecke Langmeyer. On April 7, 1978, he married Teressa “Tess” Parsons who survives in Lima.

Also surviving are a son William, grandsons Lucas and Nate; two sisters Judy (Pat) Ryan, Kathy Stoody, a brother, Dan (Gloria) and a sister-in-law, Roberta. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald and his brother-in-law, Herb Stoody.

Jerry was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and graduated from Lima Central Catholic. He spent most of his life turning wrenches as a journeyman industrial lift truck mechanic. He worked for sever different companies and retired from General Dynamics.

He loved the great outdoors and tried to never miss an opportunity to be out in it. He was passionate about the things he believed in. He never knew a stranger and was the friendliest man you would ever want to meet. Jerry was the quintessential guy who would “give you the shirt off of his back.”

He served in the US Army in the 2nd BN 71st Air Defense Hawk Missiles during the Vietnam conflict. He was stationed at Camp Red Cloud, Uijeongbu, South Korea. Jerry was very proud of his service to his country and was a very patriotic man.

The family would like to thank Mercy Health St. Rita's Hospice, all of their hospice nurses, especially Teresa, for their care, kindness and compassion.

Funeral services will be held on June 22, 2024, at 11:30 am at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Visitation will be on June 22, 2024, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Per his wishes, Jerry will be cremated, and the family will take the ashes home to love and cherish.

Jerry wanted everyone to be comfortable, so please wear casual attire.
