Obituary For Jean Brown

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jean "Eleanor" Brown, who passed away at 5:10 pm on June 14, 2024, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

She was born April 9, 1945, in Lima to Rodney William and Esther Dorothy (Wildermuth) Lutz, who both preceded her in death. On August 13, 1963, she married James Melvin "Jim” Brown, her loving husband of almost 45 years, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2008.

Eleanor was full of love, laughter, and resilience and touched the lives of all who knew her. A friend to many, she cherished every moment with her loved ones. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, watching her favorite investigative journalism dramas and traveling with family and friends. She was very dedicated to her family and serving others. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and making it a priority to attend all their sports and activities. She will forever be remembered as "Ma" and "Grandma Ellie" by her grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of First Evangelical and Reform Church where she served as deacon, chairperson for funeral lunches, and president of Ladies Aid. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1966 where she held all offices. She was an Avon Representative and looked forward to seeing her customers who became friends.

Her absence leaves a void in our hearts, but we are grateful she is no longer suffering and is now rejoicing in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

Surviving are her children Deb Borkey of Charlotte, NC, Annette L. (Adam) Meinrod of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, James Michael "Jimmy" Brown and Jeanna M. (Chip) Davis both of Lima; her grandchildren Taylor (Robert) Nelson and Morgan Borkey both of Charlotte, NC, Benjamin (Summer) Meinrod, Christopher Meinrod and Luke Meinrod all of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Sean McGraw, Aaron "A.J." Brown, Jenna (Bryden) Davis, Logan Davis and Mara Davis all of Lima; her great-grandchildren Hayes and Harper Nelson and Isla and Brooks Davis; numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Linda (Don) Donnelly of Lima, who she thought of as a sister.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Rodney (Vicki) Lutz and David (Karen) Lutz; along with countless friends and family that felt her warmth and generosity.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 28, 2024 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Pastor Randy Davis will officiate the service.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Bridge Church, 2760 E. Bluelick Rd., Lima, OH 45801.

Nornie was a treasured woman and simply the best of us. I will forever remember she and Jim with laughter on my mind and love in my heart. It brings joy knowing they are together again with my grandparents. I can hear Jim and Willy now, teasing her for taking so long. My prayers are with her children and grandchildren who brought her such pride and love. Thank you for loving all of us, Nornie. We are better for knowing you.
