Obituary For Jerry L. Mathews

Jerry L. Mathews, age 69, passed away on March 10, 2024, at 7:13 pm, at his residence. Jerry was born August 22, 1954, in Columbus, OH, to Frank L. and Ruth E. (Easton) Mathews who preceded him in death.
Jerry is survived by his siblings: David (Mary Rose) May of Lima, OH, Helen (Kelly) Swint of Sunbright, TN, Richard E. Mathews of Lima, OH and Shelley K. McPheron of Lima, OH, a brother in-law, John Bercaw of Cridersville, OH and a sister in-law, Pamela Mathews of Lima, OH. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Ann Bercaw, Sue Mathews, Beverly Plaugher, (infant sister) Dawn M. Parker, Thom Mathews, Dennis F. Mathews, Patricia (David Sr.) Ridenour and Sally L. Mathews and a brother in-law, Dana McPheron.
Jerry was a 1972 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jerry had worked in maintenance with Flying J and Pilot truck stops. He had attended Bethel Baptist Church. Jerry was an accomplished artist and he loved collecting movies.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev. Kelly Swint. Following the service military honors will be provided by the VFW#1275 and the U.S. Army. Burial of cremated remains will be held privately at a later date.
Friends may visit on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Food Pantry. Condolences may be expressed to the family at

    I will never forget the times of laughter nor the times of sorrow we all shared together. You are with the Lord Jesus now and what a glorious day that is when He brings one of his own home. We will see each other again in Heaven. No more tears or suffering. I Love you dear brother!
