Obituary For John D. Ward

Lima, OH
John David Ward, age 78, passed away on April 7, 2024, at 4:30 am, at his residence. John was born June 5, 1945, in Lima , OH, to Oliver R. and Kathryn P. (Cosart) Ward Sr. who preceded him in death.
John is survived by his sons: Matthew D. (Kris) Ward of Lima, OH, Brent S. (Shelly) Ward of Lima, OH and J. Troy (Stacy) Ward of Columbus, OH, grandchildren: Austin Oehlhof, Chase Ward, Keaton Ward, Joshua Ward, Jennifer Ward, Jacob Ward, Trenton Ward, Chloe Ward and Brayden Ward, 6 great grandchildren, his close companion,Veronica G. Miller of Lima, OH and her children, Austin, Tabitha and Celina, his previous spouse, Kathleen Ward, and a brother, Charles R.Ward of Lima, OH. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Tommy Ward and Oliver Ward Jr., a sister in-law, Carol Ward, and a niece, Kelly Ward.
John was a 1965 graduate of Bath High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. John had worked for a short time as a barber and also as a truck driver for Pepsi. The majority of his time was spent working as a fork lift operator with the Ford Motor Company from which he retired in 2010. He was the former coach of the Bath Tigers Midget Football team which won the Lima City Championship numerous times and he loved raccoon hunting with his dogs.
There will be a graveside service and burial of cremated remains held on Friday, June 14th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Ward Cemetery at the corner of Thayer Rd and St. Rt. 81 in Lima, OH. Following the graveside military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marines and the VFW #1275. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran's Food Pantry.
