Obituaries

John Douglas Magness, II, age 59 of Lima, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 7:57 a.m. at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center.

He was born October 19, 1964, in Ft. McClellan, AL, to John Douglas Magness, I, and Elizabeth B. (Osborne) Magness. His father resides in Middleville, MI and his mother preceded him in death. On October 22, 1985, he married Michelle Frisby who survives.

They were the parents to four children: John (Sarah) Magnes of Lima, Kimberly (Joshua) Sherrick of Elida, Angela McCall of Lima, and Jacob Magnes who preceded him in death. Also surviving are his sister Tamora (Jimmy) Hester of Missouri and his brother, Kevin Magness of Middleville, MI. He was the doting grandfather to Cody Magnes, Jacob Magness, Shelby Jenkins, Wesley Jenkins, Dalton Jenkins, Aubrey Sherrick and Lincoln Sherrick and the great-grandfather of Delilah Magnes.

He was a retired welder at Allen County Fabrication and a member of 101st Screaming Eagles. He loved gardening, Michigan Wolverines, building things and his dogs.

Services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Rev. Jessica Miller to officiate. The family requests that if you have Maize & Blue clothing to wear it to his service to honor John.
