Obituary For Larry Zimmerly

Larry Zimmerly, 80, passed away at 12:43 pm, November 23, 2023 at The Springs of Lima.

He was born March 8, 1943 in Bluffton to Merlin and R. Cleora (Burkholder) Zimmerly who preceded him in death. On July 27, 1973 he married Kathryn A. Wetherill who survives in Lima.

Larry was in broadcasting with WFIN, WCIT, WADM, WERT, WIMA, and WKKI Radio known as Larry Light, then was chief photographer for WLIO-TV. In 1980 became owner and operator of the Funeral Escort Service and was Chief of Security at Lima Memorial Hospital in 2001 for several years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Sheriff's Mounted Posse. He loved photography, trains and was a singer with EZ and Company.

Survivors include:; a Daughter, Christal L. Miller of Cincinnati; a Son, Michael A. Miller of Columbus; a Daughter, Nancy A. (William) Swisher of Ft. Wayne, IN: Three Grandchildren, Andrew Swisher, Candace (Anthony) Myers, Nicholas (Ana) Swisher; Two Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of services at Noon on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Andrew Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or Lima Rescue Mission.

    I met Larry when I was working in cameras at Howard's Camera and Gifts in 1978. He was a favorite customer who always had a 'pearl of wisdom' or other humorous quip to share. God Bless You and Your Family. Brian Bates
