Lima, Ohio

Luther J. Aldrich, age 92, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at home with the love of his family by his side.

Luther was born October 16, 1930, in Lima, OH, to the late Luther and Elezabeth (Bauman) Aldrich. On November 15, 1954. he married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Jean (Morgan) Aldrich.

Luther was a graduate of LaFayette-Jackson High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was raised on a farm in LaFayette, Ohio and retired from Warner & Swasey / Lennox after 42 years of service. Luther enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Bonnie Jean Aldrich of Lima; two children, James Alan (Cheryl) Aldrich of Naples, FL; and Kimberly Sue (David Ferguson) Aldrich of Lima; granddaughter, Dawn R. (Nicholas) Baker-Jackson of Kansas City, MO; sister, Shirley (Gary) Adams of Elida; and two sisters-in-law, Grace (Ralph) Shields of Van Wert, and Virginia Knupp of NY.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepdad, Reed Strauser; half-brother, Mel Ray Aldrich; three sisters, Edith Lammers, Gladys Martin, and Carol Tuttle; three sisters-in-law, Sarah (Robert) Louth, Margaret (Charles) Zerbe, Eileen (Wilbur) Liles; and two brothers-in-law, Max (Mabel) Morgan, and Robert Knupp.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023, CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Rev. Keith Knupp will officiate the service. A burial will follow in Bluelick Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and the VFW #1275.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, prior to the service at the funeral home.
