Obituary For Marcus Chaffins

Lima, OH
Marcus "Mark" Chaffins, age 95, passed away on April 1, 2024, at 11:44 pm, at his residence surrounded by his family. Mark was born May 28, 1928, in Garrett, KY, to Allen and Ellafair (Hicks) Chaffins who preceded him in death. On April 27, 1952, he married Viola "Madelin" (Collins) Chaffins who preceded him in death on January 21, 2003.
Mark is survived by his grandsons: Richard (Michelle) Holloway of Lima, OH and Jerry (Cathy) Holloway of Suffolk, VA, a great-grandson, Marcus Holloway and a sister, Vonda Jean Shepherd of Kendalllville, IN. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Belinda "Lennie" Chaffins, siblings: Harvey Chaffins, Ivan Chaffins, Dewey Chaffins, Cletus Chaffins, Ethel Collins, Florence Crager and Genevieve Prater.
Mark was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War as an Engineer. He spent his entire career as a laborer working for Buckeye Rubber retiring in 2005. Mark was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He had many talents including woodworking and being a handyman of all sorts. He also loved to sing even though he felt he wasn't any good at it.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Pastor Matt Oliver. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery in Elida following the service where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 4-7 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.

    He will definitely be missed here on earth but will keep those in Heaven smiling and laughing like he did for you all and us! He was an amazing man and we all loved him very much! Jerry Holloway and I appreciate all the wonderful care you gave to him. You both are truly wonderful in our eyes and we love you both! We are proud to have named our son Marcus after his great grandpa!
