Obituaries

Martha Anne (Barcus) Wheeler, age 86 of Lima, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 7:45 p.m., at Vancrest of Ada.

Martha was born March 6, 1937 in Gallipolis, to Wyman Francis and Eva Garnet (Champer) Barcus who preceded her in death. She married Ivan Eugene Wheeler, Sr.who preceded her in death on January 25, 2003.

Survivors include their children: Thomas F. (Michele) Wheeler of Bryan, Ivan E. (Kim) Wheeler, Jr., and Janice L. (Charlie) Rayl both of Lima, and Eva E. Hollar of Delphos, 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and she loved them all.

She was preceded in death by the following siblings: William F. Barcus, Lawrence E. Barcus, Elizabeth "Betty" Jarrell.

She learned to drive a truck at the age of 49 and along with her husband, drove semi truck cross-country. She volunteered at St. Rita's for over 12 years, was a Girl Scout leader, and taught Bible study for many years. She was a former member of Kibby St. Church of Christ. She loved going to BINGO, solving word search puzzles and completing jigsaw puzzles.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. Her funeral will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the funeral home with Chaplain Tomas Pistora to officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum following the service.
