Neil Walter Darr, age 79 of Lima Ohio passed away unexpectantly on September 24, 2023, at St. Rita’s Hospital.
Neil is survived by his wife Barbara Pautler Darr of 57 years, his sister Shirley Maxwell (Florida), brother in laws Bud Pautler (Susan) and Richard Pautler (Mary Pat) his daughter Michelle with whom he shared a birthday and his son Jeffrey Neil Darr (Rose). Five grandchildren Amanda (Elisabeth), Melody (Stacy), Mitchell (Jackie), Preston and Payton. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Alma Darr, brother-in-law Ernie Maxwell and son in law Mitch Bledsoe.
Neil and Barbara met on a blind date in 1962 and the rest they say is history. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage full of adventures. After getting married in Murphysboro, Illinois they moved across the United States to Oregon. This was the start of moving about the country to places such as Washington, Texas, Massachusetts, Illinois, New Jersey, St. Louis Missouri finally ending up in Lima Ohio. He worked at Wagner Brake and Lighting for 24 years which led to all the moves. International Brake brought them to Lima Ohio.
Neil enjoyed time in his workshop, cutting grass and just being outside enjoying his property. He was on the Lima Symphony Board for over 20 years. He was a diehard Cardinal fan. He was a cradle to grave Catholic and lived his life helping others. But his true love was his wife, Barb. Anyone who were blessed to know them as a couple know what true love is. SHMILY.
The visitation is Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 5pm to 8pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 10 am at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Kent Kaufman presiding. A graveside service will be scheduled in the future as Neil will be laid to rest in his hometown of Belleville Il. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Diabetes Association. Neil lived 60 years with this disease.
