Obituary For R. Diane Lewis
R. Diane Lewis, 86, of Lima passed away at 9:36 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at her daughter's residence in Lima, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 25, 1937, in Allen County to Clarence F. and Pauline (Hirt) Williams, who both preceded her in death. On June 10, 1961, she married Ronald E. Lewis, who preceded her in death on October 4, 2009.
Diane was the co-owner with her husband of Advanced Copy Products, the High Street Coffee Shop, Candy Cane Corner, Tow Low, Eastgate Shell, Lewis Concessions, The Fillin' Station and Lewis Classic Limo. She was a member of the Eagles Aerie 370, a life member of the Elks Lodge 54, the Moose Lodge 199 and the American Legion Post 96, the American Business Womans Association and the Soroptimist International. She volunteered at St. Rita's Medical Center in their floral department for over 30 years. She enjoyed bowling for over 25 years at Westgate with 2 different leagues and golfed in the Elks League for many years. She also enjoyed ceramics, floral design, boating, snowmobiling and summers with her family at Indian Lake. Diane was an excellent cook and loved to entertain and socializing. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was very active in their lives.
Surviving are her sons Gregory (Cheryl) Bowman of Green Bay, WI, Gary (Tammy) Lewis of Lima and Craig B. Lewis of Lima; her daughter Pamela (Thomas Ayers) Ovelgonne of Lima; her grandchildren Greg Bowman, Jr., David Bowman and Deanna Bowman, Eric (Sophia) Lewis, Sarah (Chris) Bleau, Chloe Carr, Jennifer (Brian) Stechschulte, Jamie (John Long) Ovelgonne, Jessica (Erick) Hayes, Amber (Dr. Joseph) Giancarlo; her great-grandchildren Taylor, Olivia and Corrina Bowman, Riley, Noah and Harper Lewis, Hayleigh, Avery, Emma, Aiden and Nolan Bleau, Thomas, Brian Jr., Kaleb Stechschulte and Kassadee (Tim) Gerken, Hannah, Madalyn and Rheanna Schomber, Jordyn, Reagan, Karsten and Oaklyn Hayes, Dylan and Landon Giancarlo; her great-great grandchildren William and Greyson Stechschulte, Ezekiel, Issac and Alaia Gerken and Brinley Parkins; her brothers Eugene Williams of Belle Center, Walter (Irene) Williams of Lakeview, Donald (Carol) Williams of Belle Center; numerous nieces and nephews; her dear friend Jody "Jane" Rapp and her beloved dog Tanna.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Richard "Pete", Harold, George, Jack and Charles (Andrea) Williams; her sisters June (Dick) Beasley, Alice (Paul) Mielke and Mary Ann (Richard) Baldridge and two infant sisters; her sisters-in-law Andrea and Marilyn Williams; her grandson Evan Lewis; her beloved dog Mylene.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 28, 2023, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, with Pastor Jason Knight, officiating.
Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
