Obituary For Robert Henry Mowery
Robert Henry "Bob" Mowery, 101 of Lima, went to his heavenly home on November 2, 2023, at Odem at Auglaize.
Bob was born June 12, 1922 in Bath Township, Ohio, to Burlin and Alice (Richards) Mowery, who preceded him in death. On May 26, 1949, he married Virginia (Moore) Mowery, who preceded him in death on October 3, 1986. On October 24, 1987, he married Clara (Brookhart) Mowery, who preceded him in death in May 11, 2019.
Bob was a graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School and he proudly served in the United States Army. He was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II where he received a Purple Heart. Bob worked as an Operating Engineer at B.F. Kohli Plumbing for many years until his retirement and he was a former member of Lima First Church of the Nazarene. He loved being outside, especially farming, gardening and working in his yard. Bob was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed watching baseball. He was a hardworking man who cared deeply for his family.
Bob is survived by his children, Robert J. (Ruth) Mowery of Lima, Vickie (Daniel) Gilbreath of Elida and Mary (Tony) Adcock of Elida; step-children, Stella Cech of Avon Lake, OH, Judy Gribble of Edmunds, WA, Marjean (Victor) Arnett of Lima and David Everett Gilmore of Lima; grandchildren, Andrew (Courtney) Gilbreath, Kristin (David) Dixon, Karin (Sam) Dance, Tony Joe (Nickie) Adcock, Jason (Trisha) Adcock, Josh Adcock and Chelsea (Dustin Bayes) Adcock; step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Jon) Drake, Cara (Erik) Brown, Kelsey (Adam) Phipps, Brett Arnett, Oliver Gribble, Jocelyn Gribble, Paul (Shannon) Gribble and Miles Gilmore; 15 great-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Gilbreath; step-son-in-law, Dennie Cech; brother, Richard (Vera) Mowery; June (Francis) Kiracofe, Freda (D.G.) Russell and Wanda Jean Mowery.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES - EASTSIDE CHAPEL with Pastor Jim Neighbors to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday November 17, 2023 at the funeral home and again one hour before the service on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
