Obituary For Robert Leroy Gossard

Lima, Ohio

Robert L. "Bob" Gossard, age 86, was called to his Heavenly Home at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at West Chester Assisted Living with his daughter and beloved cat, Gracie by his side.

Bob was born September 13, 1937, in Spencerville, OH, to the late Clair Roger and Beryl (Swartz) Gossard. On July 12, 1969, he married the love of his life, Helen Louise (Chapman) Gossard who preceded him in death on December 25, 2019.

Bob was a graduate of Spencerville High School. Bob had previously worked for Superior Coach and retired from General Dynamics and the Construction Laborer's Union Local #329. Bob was a member of the Church at Allentown and was an avid fan of the Bath Wild Kittens basketball program and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was especially proud of his daughter and granddaughters.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather M. Taylor of Liberty Twp; three granddaughters, Paige Michelle Taylor, Meaghan Riley Taylor and Kelsie Brenna Taylor; brother, Thomas (Joan) Gossard of Lima; sister, Sue Black of Palm City, FL; four sisters-in-law, Joanne Guy of Elida, Jeanette (Mark) List of Grove City, Lucille (Kenny) Cummings of Waynesfield and Norma Gossard of Lima; brother-in-law, James Thomas of West Manchester; his beloved cat, Gracie and his many friends at West Chester Assisted Living, including his best bud, Jim Gregory.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Clair "Roger" Gossard, Lewis Gossard and Jerry Gossard; and two sisters, Ruth Gossard and Joann Burt.

Funeral services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastors Ron Boyer and Neal Whitney will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, prior to the service at the funeral home.
