Obituary For Rodney Lee Tullis

Rodney Lee "Ron" Tullis, 82 of Lima, passed away December 29, 2023, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

Ron was born September 21, 1941 in Lima to Henry and Hazel (Sampson) Tullis, who preceded him in death. On October 21, 1978, he married the love of his life, Darlene (Shellenbarger) Tullis, who survives him in Lima.

Ron attended Lima Senior High School until his enlistment in the United States Navy in 1958. He was incredibly proud of his service in which he served on the US Shasta, US Nimitz and at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba. After his service, Ron went on to work for the City of Lima Utilities Division for 30 years until his retirement. Once retired, he continued his career as the Supervisor of St. Rita's - Mercy Health ER valet and at the Allen County Sheriff's Department Clerical and Admission for Sheriff Dan Beck. Ron was a member of Gardendale Church of God and he was previously raised and baptized in the Mennonite Church; he loved the Lord. He enjoyed working in "Ron's Garage" workshop where he would go out there with his cane just to look around in his later years. For many years Ron was a foster parent to many children whom he loved as his own, especially Brandee. Most of all, he loved his family and he was devoted to them

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his children, Ron Lee (Jessica) Tullis, Kris Tullis and Kelli Tullis Wealleans of Findlay & Debbie Arnett of Wapakoneta; brothers, Roger Tullis and Jim (Sharon) Tullis; grandsons, Avery, Caleb, Landon & Hayden; great-granddaughters, Athena & Aviana, whom he adored; brothers-in-law, Bob Shellenbarger of Delphos and Dale Shellenbarger of Florida; sister-in-law, Wilma Richardson of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four babies in Heaven who were waiting on him.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES - SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev. Justin Musto to officate the service. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
