Obituary For Ronald W. Laman

Lima, Ohio
Ronald Wayne Laman, age 88, peacefully passed away on July 1, 2024, at The Meadows of Delphos, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 21, 1935, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Harold J. and Bonnylyn (Hodde) Laman.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna M. Fletcher, whom he married on December 23, 1954, and who passed away on December 18, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Pat Rumer, and his son-in-law, Bob Moyer.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Ron was always ready with a joke and had a knack for giving nicknames to his friends and family. He was deeply loyal to his friends and cherished his family, including his two dogs, Charlie and Lulu.
Ron was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #370 in Lima, Ohio. He liked playing pool and was an enthusiastic fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. During his time at The Meadows, Ron enjoyed bird watching, finding joy in observing birds that approached his window.
Ron served in the United States Air Force from January 14, 1954, to October 1, 1957.
He was stationed in France with the 855th Tactical Control Squadron. Ron achieved the rank of Airman First Class (A1C). After his time in the Air Force, Ron worked for Neon Products Inc. until its closing in May of 1977. Following this, Ron chose to serve his community as a deputy at the Allen County Sheriff's Department. He rose to the rank of sergeant, a position from which he retired in 1999.
Ron is survived by his four daughters: Ronda (Ron) Painter of Elida, Bonnie (Jeff) Davisson of Elida, Teri (Lance) Kellermeyer of St. Marys, and Kelly Moyer of Port Richey, Florida. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Tiffany (Troy) Thomas, Lindsay Painter, Erin (Justin) Spray, Neal (Jen) Garrison, Lorin Moyer, Tyler Moyer, Lexi (Nate) Lessing, Nick (Tanya) Bilbrey, and Jamie (Ryan) Hobbs; and his four step-grandchildren: Danny (Tara) Kellermeyer, Wess (Brandy) Kellermeyer, Corey and Casey Davisson. Ron was blessed with 25 great-grandchildren who brought him much joy.
Ron will be fondly remembered for his laughter, kindness, and the warmth he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of humor, loyalty, and love.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Chiles - Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Rev. Ted Bible to officiate the service. Military Rites conducted by the Lima VFW Post #1275.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm at the Shawnee Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Allen County Animal Shelter.
