Sandra "Sandy" S. Hammons, age 71, passed away on September 21, 2023, at 2:13 am at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, NC. Sandy was born April 4, 1952, in Lima, OH, to Doyle C. and Catherine "Katie" M. (Baker) Hammons who preceded her in death.
Sandy is survived by her children: Rebecca "Becky" (Bill) Martin and Connie (Steve) Heffner both of Lima, OH, Elizabeth (Toby) Lawhorn of Troutman, NC, and Diana (Jason) Unger of Groverhill, OH, 14 grandchildren: Shaelyn (Taylor) Booth, Tara (Drew Ambroza) Cooper, Donavan (Kenzie Riggs) Wooddell, Kelsey Bonnell, Issaiah (Kenzie) Lawhorn, Emily (Brian) Fratelli, Dominic Lawhorn, Zach Martin, Scott Martin, Nate Martin, Allison (Josh) Salazar, Morgan Heffner, Kitiera Heffner and Joyce Unger, 7 great grandchildren: Sunny Booth, Everligh and Sophia Salazar, Zakai Burns, Kalayah Ragland, Dylan Lawhorn and Briley Fratelli, and siblings: Karen (Marion) Hites, Ron (Beth) Hammons and Gene (Judy) Hammons all of Lima, OH.
Sandy was a 1970 graduate of Bath High School. Through the years she had worked in office sales. Sandy was a huge Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians fan. Above all else she loved spending time with her family.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 10:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev. Lori Wright. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point following the service.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and again on Friday one hour prior to the service all at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House @ 1325 Mecklenburg Hwy., Mooresville, NC 28115. The family asks that casual Cleveland Browns attire be worn to her funeral.
