Obituary For Vincent Martin Bonifas

Vincent Martin Bonifas
August 17, 1963 - January 14, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Vincent (Vino) Martin Bonifas announces his unexpected passing on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mary Ann Bonifas and his sister and first friend Anne-Marie Bonifas. He is survived by brothers Stephen (Judy) and David (Maureen) and sisters Liesl Bonifas and Laura Bonifas Williams (Ed), as well as 11 nieces and nephews. Vince was a 1982 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and Ohio University, class of 1987.

Vince enjoyed a full life. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and all things by the Grateful Dead (having once acquired a single red sneaker of Jerry Garcia’s from a home near San Francisco). He could frequently be heard enjoying the music of the Doobie Brothers, Michael Stanley Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Darius Rucker, Earth Wind and Fire, and Alison Krauss. Vince held a variety of interesting occupations including bartending at the Alpine and Cedar Point, food service management in such exotic locales as Charlotte, NC, Charleston, WV, and Vincennes, IN, co-owner of the Hoosier Daddy tattoo parlor, and ultimately his much-loved freedom driving 18-wheelers across the South, East, and Midwest. Vince was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews often telling entertaining stories of his raucous youth. He spoke with pride and affection of his lifelong brotherhood with many friends. He will be remembered by many for his jovial and laid-back personality.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Rose Catholic Church. Officiating the mass will be Fr. Mike Sergi.

Friends may visit on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 9:00 am until the time of the mass at St. Rose Catholic Church. The CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL is honored to be assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The mass will be live-streamed and anyone wishing to view the service may do so by joining the church's website at www.stroselimaohio.org

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of my good friend Vince. He was a great leader and friend. I learned so much from him during his years at Good Samaritan. He taught me leadership skills that I use still yet today. He always spoke of the love he had for his family, and I send many prayers to you all. Rest in peace Vince. You will be missed by so many. Angela Woodfork
