Obituary For William "Bill" Goodwin

William "Bill" Goodwin, 69, of Elida passed away at 9:26 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at his
residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 31, 1954, in Lima, to Walter and Billie (McCamey) Goodwin, who both preceded him
in death. On October 26, 1979, he married Trudy Berger, who survives in Elida.

Bill was the owner/operator of Goodwin Music in Elida for over 28 years. Prior to the music store, he was
the General Manager at the Tom Ahl Chrysler store. He was affectionately known as the "Guitar Man" and
played music locally with many different bands over the years. He was a huge supporter of local music.
He was loved by everyone and always had a way of making people laugh. When his customers brought
their children to his store, they always left with a smile and a kazoo which he often encouraged them to
play all the way home. Above all else, Bill was a loving and caring husband, father and paw paw.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 43 years Trudy Goodwin are his daughters Aubrey Goodwin and
Andrea (Travis) Lawson, both of Lima; his grandchildren Aiden and Addison Lawson, Jaden Goodwin,
Trey and Jasmine Ackles; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister Donna Goodwin.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at

Bill was great man in the music community. He was always great to me. Always said my name when I came into store. Always had alot of information about music and instruments. Always helped me out. Just a all around great man. I'm so sorry for the loss in the family. He is truly missed. I Erich Frederick will definitely miss him. Such a great man. I'm so glad I supported Goodwins music because he supported the local music scene. Truly a great man.

Shelley says Bill was always a sure hug and a smile for me no matter how long it was since we last met. Her tears prove just how much Bill was loved and will be missed in our world.

Bill was my very best friend growing up as teenagers. I remember us working on cars a lot just for the fun of it or actually fixing them when they needed it. He had a wonderful family. His mom and dad was so nice. I remember his mom making lasagna and it was the best. Bill taught me how to play the guitar a little bit. I only wished I could have been have as good as he was at playing. He gave me a red hollow body electric guitar when we was young and boy do I wished I would have kept it now as part of a remembrance of Bill. It's crazy how time slips away from us seeing each other so much more than we did. I regret that so much now. He was a very good person.I loved Bill like a brother. I'm going to miss you buddy. I knew Bill thru my brother Jim Horetski. He was always very nice. I will always remember the wayside reunion when he gave away a guitar for charity. My son won it. Bill was so happy. Rest in heaven Bill.
